Why Games?
My name is Aaron. I grew up in small towns across Michigan, but mostly in the upper peninsula. Thanks to my older brother and cousins, games have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. One of my earliest memories is watching my Josh (brother) and Derek (cousin) try to take down the four fiends in Final Fantasy II (IV). My love for games continued to grow throughout high school, college, and into my adult years. I now have a wife and a career, so finding the time to play games can often be difficult. My love for JRPGs and other story focused games that can take 60+ hours to complete makes this doubly so. However, as long as games continue to give me a unique experience unlike that of any other media, I will continue to make time for them.
Why CaKarst?
I get this question a lot, and it's a fair question. I typically prefer internet personalities who just go by their names. However, CaKarst holds some special meaning to me in that it means absolutely nothing. It originates in the late 90s and came from my cousin, Shawn, having a cool screen name. I needed one, too. We had just learned about some geological landscape called a karst in school. Karst is a cool word, right? I thought so back then, but it still needed some flavor. After minutes of deliberation, adding a Ca- prefix seemed like just the thing. Ever since then, I've used it for everything. I tried to rid myself of it during college out of embarrassment, but that's just not me. I embrace it now.
